Position: Manager, Accounting and Financial Analysis
Location: Work from home! Must live within service territories
of
DE, MD FL, PA, OH, VA, NC
Primary duties and responsibilities include:
- Supports preparation and delivery of corporate and business
unit monthly financial statement close process. Primary owner of
all accounting and regulatory reporting for corporate and business
units under responsibility.
- Ensures financial transactions are recorded accurately and
timely, and analyzes and reviews financial statements for given
area of responsibility. Responsible for complete and accurate
preparation of all required reports on a quarterly and annual
basis.
- Prepares, reviews or approves account reconciliations and
accounts, as required.
- Prepares the monthly reporting packages including analysis of
current actual results to prior period actual results, to budget,
and to forecast for the corporate entities and business units under
responsibility.
- Direct and effectively delegate staff work, serving as subject
matter expert on the accounting impact of business
activities.
- Manage staff training, development, and performance in area of
responsibility.
- Develop relationships, expanding leadership influence to
accomplish results through others. Demonstrate accountability and
leadership in advancing business priorities, independent of
management oversight.
- Oversee design and operating effectiveness of the control
environment within the area of responsibility.
- Demonstrate ability to provide guidance from an accounting
perspective as well as to be viewed as a partner to assist the
business in achieving its goals and objectives.
- Accounting systems, policies and procedures - make and
implement recommendations which result in improvements to the
integrity and quality of the financial statements along with the
efficiency of the department.
- Supports the implementation of changes in Generally Accepted
Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Drive efficiencies through innovation and continuous process
improvements.
- Facilitate a partnership environment with various corporate
departments and business units to resolve their issues, review
financial statements, annual budgeting process, forecasting and
other projects.
- Act as a positive force in the accounting department in a
manner that promotes the "yes we can" attitude with the approach
"how can I help" to others in the department, corporate office and
business units.
- Monitor the relationship with internal and external audit
groups.
- Stay current on accounting trends and standards.
- Assist in the management of the accounting department's
programs for employee development.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting with a minimum of ten years of
accounting experience and prior management experience
required.
- Prior utility experience is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and verbal and written communication
skills.
- Strong coaching, team and mentoring skills, strong analytical
skills, ability to lead in analysis and work flow process.
- Strong foundation of accounting, including Generally Accepted
Accounting Principles (GAAP) and current financial issues to assist
in accurate and timely reporting and analysis of financial
data.
- Consistently exercise agility, independent judgement and
discretion on matters of significance.
- Multi-task and manage different personalities in a high volume,
deadline driven environment while understanding the flow of
processes.
- Be a change-agent to drive efficiencies with the use of
technology and process redesign.
