This team is on the cutting-edge of customer programs, creating revolutionary options for our customers as we transition to a brighter, cleaner electricity future. This position will help tackle the exciting challenge of creating programs to help decarbonize the grid, encourage the adoption of electric vehicles, design the next evolution of energy efficiency and demand response programs, and create affordability programs for our customers in need.A successful candidate at the Rates & Regulatory Strategy Analyst level will have a basic understanding of business, public policy, and economics principles and be able to apply those principles to better current and support creating potential new products and services offered by Duke Energy across all regulated jurisdictions. Employees at this level are able to perform basic financial and public policy analysis work including supporting utility rate filings, cost of service work, regulatory strategies, rate and pricing implications, and other regulatory requirements.The Analyst will develop good working relationships with internal teams and work to create a productive, collaborative work environment. In addition, this candidate will have good communication skills, both written and verbal, and develop presentation skills. This position is expected to learn from senior level peers and team members. The Analyst will stay informed on industry trends in energy efficiency, distributed generation, electric vehicles, decarbonization, and ratemaking reform. This position will have general supervision.In addition to the above, a successful Senior Analyst will have an advanced understanding of business, public policy, and economic principles, strong communication and presentation skills, ability to inform internal leaders on technical subjects in an easy-to-understand way, develop relationships with external stakeholders, and provide informal mentoring support to junior analysts. The Senior Analyst is expected to work with intermittent supervision.Responsibilities

  • Create billing and financial models for various programs, rate designs, or to estimate the impact of policy or regulatory changes
  • Conduct policy analysis on a broad spectrum of topics including renewable energy, pricing, electric vehicles, and energy efficiency programs
  • Draft and edit tariffs, regulatory filings, testimony and other work products for public consumption
  • Provide education and policy interpretations for internal groups
  • Work constructively with data analytics colleagues to develop customer insights and to inform rate/program design and regulatory strategy
  • Other duties as assignedThe Senior Level is expected to execute these responsibilities with less direct guidance and supervision.Basic/Required QualificationsRates & Regulatory Strategy Analyst
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics or other related degree
    • In addition to required degree, minimum two (2) years relevant work experienceSenior Rates & Regulatory Strategy Analyst
      • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics or other related degree
      • In addition to required degree, minimum four (4) years relevant work experienceDesired Qualifications
        • Employees at this level are able to perform proficiently at the Associate Rates & Regulatory Strategy Analyst requirements and is demonstrating the ability to perform at the Rates & Regulatory Strategy Analyst requirements. -Working Conditions
          • Hybrid - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period.
