POSITION: Medical Education, Assessment ,Accreditation Specialist (CUSOM)

DEPARTMENT: Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine

STATUS: Full Time

Position Summary:

The Medical Education, Assessment, and Accreditation Specialist (MEAAS) at the Campbell University Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM) is responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the Office of Assessment, Accreditation, and Medical Education. This individual's primary duties include compiling and formatting all classroom exams, administering and grading exams, maintaining and calculating grades, posting of all teaching materials, taking attendance, setting up course and faculty evaluations, updating curriculum maps, and assisting in compiling evidence for accreditation. The MEAAS will have significant interaction with both students and faculty, and an amicable professional demeanor is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compiling and formatting all classroom exams.
  • Administering and grading exams.
  • Maintaining and calculating grades in all classroom and laboratory courses.
  • Posting all teaching materials, including online course material.
  • Contribute to the approval process of all excused absences, as designated.
  • Organize and maintain Office of Medical Education files and records.
  • Maintain an up-to-date list of student and faculty access.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of faculty and students.
  • Maintain class attendance records.
  • Prepare lecture hall and provide support for all curricular activities, must be available 30 minutes prior to the start of daily lectures for which the MES is supporting.
  • Manage Panopto recordings of all curricular lectures in the lecture halls.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to: Title IX, HIPAA, and FERPA guidelines.
  • Assist with assessment-related efforts including the creation and management of course and faculty evaluations, updating curriculum maps.
  • Assist with accreditation-related efforts including compiling and maintaining evidence for accreditation bodies in preparation for site visits.
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. Education/Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Education, Computer Science or related field is required.
    • Experience working in higher education environment is preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
      • Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels.
      • Ability to maintain confidentiality and attention to detail are essential.
      • Ability to respond calmly and appropriately in emotional situations.
      • Ability to listen and communicate in a positive manner.
      • Must be proficient in word processing and computer usage experience.
      • Ability to collaborate and interact with health care professionals.
      • Ability to organize, direct, and prioritize work appropriately.
      • Ability to manage time well and work under stressful conditions with an even temperament.
      • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and the Internet
      • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
      • The ability to demonstrate tact, courtesy and discretion in dealing with faculty, staff, students, high-level university officials and the public.
      • Ability to work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
      • Ability to exercise independent judgments in complex and new situations.
      • Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects, and still meet strict deadlines.
      • Detail-oriented and willing to work in a changing environment including researching new ways of accomplishing tasks, participating in training sessions, and being a self-starter and a team player, and willingness to assist in other areas as needed.
      • Broad knowledge of Campbell University policies and procedures. Complexity of Duties:

        Complexity of duties will be commensurate with level of experience.

        Types of Contacts:

        This individual will have daily interactions with CUSOM faculty (on-campus and off-campus), staff, and medical students. Interaction with outside vendors, guests of CUSOM, and any other affiliates will be possible. Heavy telephone and email usage apply.

        Decision-Making:

        This individual will provide guidance and instruction within as well as outside the University setting.

        • Ability to understand oral and written information and organize thoughts and ideas into effective forms of communication.
        • Ability to make decisions which range from moderate to a significant impact on the immediate work environment, as well as outside contributors. Other Information:
