Conway, SC near Myrtle Beach, is a world leading producer of
Amorphous Metal Ribbon. Since our company began in the 1970’s,
Metglas, Inc. (then Allied Signal located in Morristown, NJ)
pioneered the development and production of amorphous metal, a
unique alloy that exhibits a structure in which the metal atoms
occur in a random pattern. The key to Metglas, Inc.’s proprietary
manufacturing process is the rapid solidification of molten alloy
at a rate of approximately one million degrees Celsius per second.
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Process Engineer with
experience in ceramics, to join our team and manage the
manufacturing and machining process for high temperature ceramics
used in molten metal production. The ideal candidate will possess a
strong background in ceramic processing with machining and
materials science engineering principles, with hands-on experience
in laboratory testing, manufacturing processes, and design
software. As a Process Engineer - Ceramics, you will play a pivotal
role in shaping the future of ceramic technologies by applying your
expertise in materials science, fabrication techniques, and quality
control standards. Duties - Lead production development initiatives
to innovate ceramic materials and improve existing products. -
Collaborate with Engineering team to Design and develop prototypes
as needed using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and other
CAD tools, translating concepts into detailed engineering drawings.
- Oversee in house furnace maintenance and operational processes
utilizing ceramics, to optimize efficiency and quality. - Provide
technical support to in-house ceramic machining operation, perform
quality control assessments, and collect data for continuous
process improvement. - Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams on
product development projects, integrating mechanical knowledge and
ceramic engineering principles for enhanced performance. -
Collaborate with ceramic component suppliers to improve existing
documentation and assess suppliers’ capability to meet growing
demand for METGLAS products. Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning
& Tolerancing) standards to ensure precision in design
specifications and manufacturing tolerances. - Manage project
scheduling effectively to meet deadlines while maintaining high
standards of safety and quality. - Ensure compliance with industry
regulations and standards through rigorous testing, documentation,
and validation procedures. - Support research & development efforts
by exploring new ceramic compositions, fabrication techniques, and
innovative applications in diverse industries. Skills - Extensive
experience with project scheduling tools and methodologies for
managing complex engineering projects effectively. - Proficiency in
CAD software including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent for
designing ceramic components. - Strong knowledge of manufacturing
techniques such as fabrication and ceramic sintering processes. -
Laboratory experience with material testing methods related to
ceramics, or composite materials. - Mechanical engineering
expertise combined with a solid understanding of chemical or
materials engineering principles relevant to ceramics production. -
Familiarity with GD&T standards for precise component
measurement and quality assurance. - Ability to conduct thorough
research & development activities aimed at innovating new products
or improving existing ones. - Experience in data collection,
analysis, and interpretation to support engineering decisions. -
Understanding of quality control protocols within manufacturing
environments focused on ceramics or plastics industries. - Strong
communication skills for documenting findings clearly and
collaborating effectively across teams. Join us as a Process

BS degree in engineering discipline. - Requires 5 or more years
commercial production experience using ceramic components. - Metals
manufacturing experience a plus. ITAR and EAR Disclosure Statement:
