Position Information Position Information Position Title: Director of Assessment and Accreditation Position Number: 000952 Full-time or Part-time: Full Time Department: Institutional Research Posting Number: 0401250 SHRA/EHRA: EHRA (Non-Faculty) Job Category: Professional Hiring Range: Commensurate with Education and Experience Minimum salary: Commensurate with Education and Experience Maximum salary: Commensurate with Education and Experience Overall Position Competency: EHRA Description of primary duties and responsibilities: The Director of Assessment and Accreditation reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Institutional Research and Effectiveness/ SACSCOC Liaison. The Director oversees institution-wide assessment as well as institutional and specialized accreditation initiatives to support the university's commitment to continuous improvement. The position works collaboratively with faculty, staff and students to design, develop, implement and provide reports on institutional, academic, co-curricular and administrative assessment in support of the university's mission to provide the "---highest quality learning experiences---" and achieve "---excellence in teaching, research, scholarship, and service." Description of Work Continued: General Responsibilities include: ---Works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators to complete the variety of complex tasks necessary to maintain institutional and specialized accreditations. ---Ensures that all units of the university follow best practices of the academic assessment community in conducting assessments and complying with accreditation standards. ---Assists faculty and administrators in implementing assessment plans that foster student learning, degree attainment, and post-graduation success; ---Communicates regularly with the campus community to promote awareness of assessment and accreditation and encourage campus-wide involvement in these important activities. ---Evaluates annual assessment reports and student learning outcomes for each department to promote continuous improvement; Provide input on academic and administrative program review. ---Assists curricular, co-curricular areas and administrative units in research, data collection, analysis and loop-closing related to program assessment, outcomes and impact. ---Summarizes findings, write executive reports and present assessment results to executives and large groups. ---Offers development, oversight, and monitoring of the collection of multiple curricular and co-curricular assessment data for evaluation, accountability, and accreditation of programs and faculty. ---Serve as a resource for faculty and staff for training on assessment and accreditation initiatives. ---Mentor staff as they develop their assessment and evaluation skills, with a particular focus on identifying the appropriate assessment strategy to answer the appropriate research question. ---Pursue continuing professional development and/or research related to assessment, research methods, or a related field. ---Serve on and/or lead University and Department committees, including the University Assessment Committee. ---Maintain electronic assessment records and training faculty on that system. ---Perform additional duties as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: A master's degree in a relevant discipline Knowledge skills and abilities: --- Knowledge of higher education accreditation standards and processes. --- Knowledge of best practices in the higher education academic assessment community. --- Knowledge of accreditation requirements for higher education; major issues and trends in adult higher education, teaching and adult learning. --- Skills in quantitative data management and advanced statistical analysis (preferably using SAS and or SPSS); --- Skills in qualitative data collection and analysis techniques including focus group interviews, survey design; --- Excellent interpersonal skills to promote effective collaboration; --- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain assessment processes and outcomes that is easy to understand by non-specialists. --- Ability to manage multiple complex tasks without direct supervision. --- Ability to coordinate institutional planning and accreditation processes. --- Provide evidence of developing/writing accreditation standards. --- Have a working knowledge of accreditation/assessment software. Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate degree is preferred, in a relevant discipline and at least ten years of experience in higher education research and evaluation.
