The entire Valor team works hard to earn the trust of those who have faith in us to care for them with respect and through methods that lead to excellent outcomes.Position SummaryThe Primary Care Physician Assistant works collaboratively with the supervising physician to diagnose and treat diseases and injuries and deliver preventive and therapeutic treatment of Veteran patient primary care needs.Core Responsibilities--- Patient Care: Actively diagnoses and treats our veterans under the direction and responsibility of a supervising physician.o Examines patient for symptoms of organic or congenital disorders. The physician assistant determines the nature and extent of injury or disorder, performs comprehensive physical examination, referring to diagnostic images and tests, and using medical instruments and equipment for all chronic disease management. All findings are documented into the patient's electronic medical record utilizing the VA's VISTA/CPRS electronic patient record system. Maintains confidentiality of veterans' data and information.o Develops and implements patient management plans and assists in provision of continuity of care.o Orders and performs diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, laboratory tests, etc. and interprets test results for deviations from normal and provides patient notification and follow up care.o Prescribes medication and recommends dietary and activity programs as indicated by diagnosis.o Refers patient to the VA medical specialist when indicated.o Counsel patients on the use of prescription medications, educates patients, assesses mental health issues, and provides routine health maintenance.o Evaluates patients' records from medical providers outside the VA and works with these patients utilizing rules set forth by the VA for co-managed care.o Completes any and all clinical reminders "due" at the time of each patient visit.o Completes the documentation of the medical record within twenty-four 24 hours of a patient encounter.o Solicits medical management consult or input when appropriate.o Complies with all VA guidelines in regard to appropriate and timely response to all patient request, alerts and notifications, consults, orders, lab results and diagnostic studies.o Complies with the VA formulary process and consult protocols.o Complies with all VA guidelines in regard to appropriate and timely clinical documentation, including the completion of all encounters by close of business.o Addresses the clinical needs of all walk-in/triage/urgent care patients.o Agrees to cross cover other providers, including alerts and notifications.o Complies with all VA and company training requirements.o Other duties as assigned.Site of Service:--- Fayetteville, NC VA facility--- Full Time--- This is a 52-week position that has a projected start date month of 7/2024 and end date month of 6/2025Requirements:Qualifications--- Master's degree (MPAS)--- Graduate of an accredited program for physician assistants, including preceptorship.--- Current certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).--- A minimum of 5 years of working experience as a Physician Assistant in an outpatient setting preferred. Specific requirements could vary based on individual VA contract.--- Must comply with and maintain all requirements for a valid, unrestricted license that is Current license to practice medicine in any state, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.--- Current certification in Basic Life Support, must be renewed periodically as specified by the AHA, and in ACLS if specified by individual VAMC contract.--- Current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.--- Annual PPD test--- Must be compliant with federal, state, local government or contract specific vaccine mandates and/or requirements.--- Proficiency in written and spoken English.--- Strong computer skills--- Energetic and optimistic demeanor--- Strong service mentality and a focus on achieving all aspects of defined service standards.--- This is considered a safety sensitive position.Clearance Requirement: Public Trust / High RiskAs this position is categorized as Public Trust / High Risk position, candidates will be subject to appropriate Background Investigation.Job Location: Fayetteville, NCBenefits:Valor offers competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision.
