Job Title: RN - PCU Profession: RN Specialty: Cardiac Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year Cardiac Telemetry or PCU experience License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring - Cardiac strip and rhythm interpretation - Arterial lines and titration of drips - Non-invasive ventilator care - Vascular lines and chest tubes or drains - Post-procedure site care Description: This position is for an RN in a Progressive Care Unit. The facility is community-based with a focus on cardiac and telemetry care. The unit consists of 18 beds with an average daily census of 18. Patients typically include those requiring continuous monitoring of cardiac, respiratory, hemodynamic, and neurologic status. Common diagnoses include NSTEMI, post-STEMI, heart failure, and post-stroke. Procedures may involve cardiac interventional, electrophysiology, and thoracic surgeries. The nurse will manage patients who are post-operative, including open heart surgeries. Ratios are RN to patient of 1:3 or 1:4 depending on interventions needed. CNA support is available. The position includes responsibilities for continuous cardiac monitoring and interpretation of rhythms. Also required are skills in pharmacological titration and the use of various medical devices. Support services include a charge nurse, rapid response team, and respiratory therapy. Technology includes an electronic medical record system, IV pumps, and in-room monitoring equipment.
