Job Description:

The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team in providing top-tier medical services in a correctional setting. This role involves working within a dynamic and challenging environment, offering healthcare services to inmates at federal correctional facilities. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate professional with a strong commitment to patient care and the ability to operate effectively under stringent safety regulations. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans for individual inmates. Provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. Perform routine health examinations and screenings for inmates as part of the facility’s preventative health programs. Administer medications, monitor patient recovery and progress, and report any changes in patient conditions to medical staff. Document all patient interactions and treatments accurately and within compliance to the standards of the nursing profession and federal guidelines. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including doctors, administrators, and correctional officers for comprehensive patient care. Educate patients on health maintenance and disease prevention strategies. Respond quickly and effectively to medical emergencies. Proficiency in clinical skills with the ability to work under pressure in a challenging environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of managing interactions with a diverse inmate population and correctional staff. Competency in using medical software and electronic health records. High ethical standards and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license from the appropriate State Board of Nursing. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications. Preferably certified in Correctional Health Care Professional (CCHP) by the National Commission on Correctional Health Care, though not mandatory.
