Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (06:45 - 19:15) Experience:
Minimum 2 years License: NC or Compact license required at time of
start Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Skills in MS/Tele,
interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias,
telemetry monitoring, rapid response team usage, colostomy care,
feeding tube care, renal failure management, blood product
administration, phlebotomy, PICC line management, heparin
protocols, insulin administration, isolation precautions, chest
tube management, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG
interpretation, and tracheostomy management. Description: This
position involves supporting the emergency department holding unit.
Patients in this unit are waiting for inpatient beds in the
hospital. They may have various medical and surgical adult
diagnoses. Travelers may encounter PCU level patients. Travelers
are expected to take MS/Tele cases as well as float to other areas
as needed. Ratios target 1:7 for MS/Tele patients or 1:4 for PCU
level patients. Weekend work is required every other weekend.
Contract staff may be assigned to work during storms or
catastrophic events. Interdisciplinary support includes respiratory
services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, and
rapid response teams. The work environment is fast-paced and
requires readiness for high acuity patient care. Standard medical
equipment will be used, including cardiac monitors and IV pumps.
All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to the start of the
assignment. Submission of references is preferred prior to start.
Travelers must be comfortable floating to different units based on
patient needs. Work hours may accumulate but cannot exceed 60 hours
