fellows! Pediatric Anesthesiologist W-2 Opportunity at ECU Health
Medical Center an Maynard's Children's in Greenville, NC! Maynard's
Children's Hospital, a facility a part of ECU Health Medical
Center, has a total of 200 beds/bassinets and is a level IV NICU
with 71 beds. Our NICU is one of the largest in the state and is a
29-county referral center for pediatric surgery! Staffed with
exceptionally trained experts, our pediatric team cares for the
most vulnerable in the community, and takes on the challenge of
performing cases with some of the highest levels of acuity in the
field and on par with isolated children's hospitals. Due to the
diverse and expansive case volume and mix at this impressive level
I trauma center, this position also allows for the incumbent to
manage their own cases, mentor SRNAs/SAAs, CRNAs and CAAs, as well
as maintain their adult skills and acuity. The pediatric surgical
services at Maynard's and ECU Health are actively expanding their
subspecialty lines. Our NICU is expanding and a significant
increase in volume is anticipated over the next few years.
Overview: The incumbent will provide and manage anesthesia for
infants, children, and adolescents during surgical, diagnostic, and
therapeutic procedures, as well as have the opportunity to maintain
adult skills due the impressive Level 1 size of ECU Health. The
core responsibilities of this position include conducting
pre-operative evaluations, creating individualized anesthesia
plans, monitoring patients' vital signs, managing pain, and
ensuring safe recovery. They must also communicate effectively with
families and the healthcare team, and participate in quality
improvement initiatives. Case Specifics: The pediatric
anesthesiologist will be performing pediatric cases all the time,
but will also be performing general anesthesia for adult and
geriatric populations. Anesthetics are provided for over 4,000
pediatric cases per year. Current pediatric cases include routine
and complex general surgery, neurosurgery, plastics and
craniofacial surgery, orthopedics, ENT, urology, transplant
(renal). Cardiac surgery is limited to bedside PDA. Surgical cases
are consistent with these most complex children and include
occasional bedside cases. Regional anesthesia is a routine service
provided for post op pain management. In addition to anesthesia for
surgical services, we provide pediatric anesthesia for offsite
locations like radiology, cardiac cath lab, audiology, pulmonary,
GI, heme/onc procedures and radiation treatments. Schedule and
Call: We offer a schedule that is truly flexible and conducive for
modern day families. We are more than willing to work with an
anesthesiologist to build a schedule that meets daily needs, and
helps create a work/life balance that works for their family. Call
shifts are a mix of pediatric (mostly) and general - call averages
to 1-2 days/week with average clinical work hours 40-45 hours. Some
in-house overnight shifts with pre and post-call day off. The
majority of the rest of call is pediatric backup (late person with
back up at home on pager after 7pm). Call in rate is Compensation

Education and Experience Required: Medical degree (MD or DO) from
an accredited medical school Completed or in the process of
completing an Anesthesia Residency Completed or pursuing a
Pediatric fellowship Board certification or eligibility (BC/BE) in
