Job DescriptionDescription of WorkThis position is currently
located within the Department of Public Safety but will transfer to
the Department of Adult Correction when it is established on
January 1, 2023.This job class is approved for a special entry
salary of $38,511 annually.This is a REPOST of positions 60059364,

to be considered.Reporting to a Food Service Supervisor III, the
Food Service Officer IIIwill perform first-line supervision of male
inmates assigned to work in a large-scale food production and food
service correctional facility operation. Job responsibilities
include; but are not limited to the following:Providing a dual role
of custody and food production training.Supervising inmate workers
engaged in a variety of activities in food production including
cooking, baking, and serving of food to the inmate
population.Training inmates in the art of institutional cooking,
baking, and serving; maintaining standards of sanitation in all
areas of the kitchen; and proper food storage
responsibilities.Ensuring high quality work performed by the
inmates in the assigned food preparation and food service work
area.This is a full-time position working rotating shifts with
State Benefits.Note to Current State Employees:The salary grade for
this position is NC07. State employees are encouraged to apply for

a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the
quantity of relevant education and experience, funding
