Primary Purpose of Position Support the campus by providing continuous support of various operating systems and Information Technology Operations platforms. Provide efficient management of information technology products, services, and support. Enhance the University---s information security posture through awareness by monitoring and alerting across applications and infrastructure. Work with other team members to create scripts using scripting tools and GPO---s to apply to the server systems. Consult with functional offices and other software developers to identify and assess needs and requirements. Produce technical specifications. Assist other Systems Analysts in, troubleshooting and resolution of issues. Assist project managers in the development of task lists and project plans. Install, configure, manage and support web, application, and middleware systems such as Apache, Tomcat, OpenSSL, OpenLDAP, mod-Perl, PHP, etc. according to division standards. Perform basic system administration duties as needed. Monitor web, application, and middleware system and application interfaces. Ensure these systems function correctly and securely. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues. Support the campus portal and other significant campus applications. Serve as a resource to and support other DoIT staff that provide first and second-tier support to users. Other duties as assigned to meet division goals. Spread over 281 acres, the campus offers a sense of community and belonging----a place where faculty and staff feel supported, take pride in the university---s mission, and are devoted to excellence in teaching, learning and research, and to developing leaders who make a difference in their communities.The Systems Administrator---s responsibilities will encompass all aspects of patch management for various operating systems and appliances. --- This will include maintaining documentation for audit purposes--- Creating schedules for scanning and patching.--- Identifying systems to create batches--- Maintaining a Red Hat Satellite repository and a Windows Systems Update system--- Verifying and testing the stability of patches before updating systems--- Applying patches on a schedule to various servers and appliances. --- Monitor systems health and troubleshooting issues that arise.--- Communicating with application owners as needed Duties will also include maintaining the virtual infrastructure for server operating systems and virtual desktops.--- Installing and configuring updates to virtual infrastructure--- Installing and configuring various operating systems and applications. --- Monitoring resources, adding additional resources as necessary to meet application needs.--- Document inventory assets, and maintain proper attribute settings within virtual infrastructure on objects for query purposes--- Collaborate with ITSS to verify accuracy of ITSM ticketing systems scansThe Systems Administrator will be responsible for installing and configuring various security and compliance tools. The Systems Administrator will also be responsible for monitoring various application dashboards and troubleshooting alerts and notifications from various systems. Duties will include documenting Service of Operations for individual tasks. Duties will also include managing Tripwire Enterprise Application--- Installing and configuring updates to the software--- Configuring software application--- Importing policies to be applied to assets--- Installing agents on various operating systems and appliances--- Run baselines for change management--- Run vulnerability scans and report to application or server owner --- Apply remediations when neededDuties will also include managing Microsoft O365 Security tools and Varonis Data Classifications.Duties also include working with other departments within DoIT to troubleshoot applications. Provide information about various servers or hardware platforms to maintain an adequate inventory of systems.Duties also include working with the ITSM ticketing system, responding and resolving incident and service requests, and putting in the change requests. Communicating with customers to resolve service issues.This position is designated as Mandatory Personnel: Mandatory Employees: Employees whose presence has been determined to be mandatory to University operations during certain types of adverse weather or emergency events. Management Preference --- Minimum of three (3) years of experience with Linux and Windows operating systems. --- Minimum of five (5) years of System Administration experience in a Linux environment. --- Minimum of three (3) years of experience with VMWare or similar virtualization software.--- Knowledge of networks and firewalls. Experience with file storage, NetApp is a plus.--- Experience with cloud and hybrid-based software applications.--- Experience with Single Sign-On, shibboleth is a plus.--- Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.--- Experience in project management.--- Experience with virtual collaboration tools.--- Experience with Hyper-converged systems--- Experience with virtual desktop solutions, VMWare Horizon or Nutanix Frame--- Ability to prioritize work activities and complete tasks on time This position is subject to the successful completion of an employment background check.
