Summary of Job Duties:

The University of Arkansas Department of Music is accepting applications for an Instructor of Musicology beginning August 16, 2021.

This is a non-tenure-track, one-year position (not renewable). Teaching duties could include courses at the general education and major level on topics such as popular music, jazz, Western art music, and musics of the world. The ideal candidate will have broad teaching interests in musicology, be engaged with current research and pedagogy, and show commitment to reaching our diverse student body.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in musicology, music history, or ethnomusicology conferred by the time of appointment (ABD considered)

  • Teaching experience at the collegiate level

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success teaching general education courses in music beyond the graduate assistant level

  • Experience teaching courses in popular music and/or jazz history

Salary Information:

Commensurate with education and experience
