Job Description:
The Safety Assistant will be responsible for supporting the
administrative and compliance related activities for the
plant--------s safety program.-- - Working under the guidance of
the Safety & Training Manager. The Safety Assistant
responsibilities include the following:
Primary Responsibilities
-- --- - Track and maintain monthly safety related data related to
OSHA compliance and Elevate--------s specific safety program
requirements.
-- --- - Assist in conducting and leading routine safety audits
across departments to include zone audits and facility-wide
audits.-- - Coordinate with appropriate management and lad
inspection/audit teams. Document findings, corrective actions and
follow up to ensure completion.
-- --- - Monitor plant work areas to ensure safety compliance
related to signage, labeling, PPE, slip and trip hazards and all
operator safety work practices.
-- --- - Assist conducting training sessions with employees related
to safety practices to include new hire orientation, annual
regulatory topics, and OJT Train the Trainer, on all shifts
-- --- - Coordinate with dedicated trainers to update training
records and communicate with OJTs in proper safety training and
work practices for new hires.
-- --- - Help to facilitate safety committee and other department
safety meetings, and maintain the minutes; follow up on actions
noted to ensure they are completed
-- --- - Participate in safety related equipment inspections.
-- --- - Participate in incident investigations to include personal
injury or property damage.-- - Assist in documenting the findings
and corrective actions.
-- --- - Distribute and track safety talks and other educational
safety information to ensure appropriate distribution to managers
and employees and general understanding.
-- --- - Monitor and maintain the plant--------s safety observation
card program to include promoting to employees, reviewing cards
weekly and following up on reported items.
-- --- - Maintain open and effective communications across all
employees and management team. -- -Be a safety ambassador at all
times.
-- --- - Update the Safety Data Sheets system and books in the
manufacturing areas.
-- --- - Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager Required
Education and Experience
-- --- - High School diploma or GED.
-- --- - 2+ years of experience working with safety compliance in a
manufacturing environment; familiar with OSHA standards.
-- --- - General understanding of manufacturing processes and
related equipment.
-- --- - Ability to make decisions based on standard practices.
-- --- - Ability to regularly create and update electronic
documents.
-- --- - Proficient in use of Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and
Excel.
-- --- - Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot, and
problem solve.
-- --- - OSHA 10 Hour / OSHA 30 Hour Certification, strongly
preferred*
-- --- - *If not already certified, it is required that employees
achieve this certification within the first 90 days of employment
and/or assignment to the role
-- --- - First Aid/CPR Certification (Bi-Annual Course), strongly
preferred*
