What You'll Do:
In this position you will perform
laboratory tests on construction materials, interpret test data,
and prepare reports and/or summaries of test data under the
direction of the laboratory managerSpecific duties may be, but are
not limited to soils laboratory testing such as: Atterberg limits,
gradation analyses, swell testing, moisture content testing, visual
classifications, unconfined compressive strength testing of soil
and rock, and standard and modified proctor testingConcrete
laboratory testing may include duties such as stripping and
labeling samples, setting samples for curing, monitoring daily
temperature logs, and breaking of samplesAdditional
responsibilities include compiling test results, data input, data
processing, and other administrative workYou will also assist in
maintaining a clean and organized lab in compliance with QA/QC
initiatives and accreditation requirements, including calibration
of laboratory equipment and maintenance of calibration schedule and
recordsYou may also assist with other laboratory functions as
necessary and assist with field work as neededWork Environment: The
employee may be exposed to weather conditions such as wet and/or
humid environments, cold and/or heat, dusty and noisy work
environments. Noise levels will typically be moderate to moderately
loud. Some weekend and overtime work may be required.Physical
Requirements: These physical demands are representative of what a
laboratory technician may encounter and are essential functions of
the position. You will be involved primarily with laboratory work
involving long term standing and repetitive motions. You must have
the ability to use your hands to handle, finger or feel; reach,
climb or balance; crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit. You will
have the ability to see and smell; including close, distance and
peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus. Lifting The
employee will regularly lift and/or move/shake up to 40 pounds
[soil and/or concrete tests and related apparatus]; frequently lift
and/or move up to 60-80 pounds [soils and sand samples, and nuclear
density equipment]; and occasionally move more than 100 pounds
[such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete samples]. Reasonable

- 0 2 years of experience
- Position requires carrying 40 70 lbs multiple times a day or
occasionally lifting 85 lbs to waist height
- Must be able to provide suitable transportation for use on job
