This long-term locum tenens anesthesiologist (travel/contract) role offers consistent weekday day shifts, a broad surgical case mix, and an environment where anesthesiologists do their own cases —ideal for physicians seeking anesthesiology jobs in North Carolina . This is a supplemental (temporary) assignment with 2 openings and the expectation of flexibility to support multiple affiliated sites as coverage needs change. Position Type: Locum Tenens Anesthesiologist (General) – travel/contract physician Openings: 2 Estimated Weekly Pay Range: $10,273 – $11,414 Start Date: 1/21/2026 (target start 2/1/2026) End Date: 12/31/2027 Schedule: Monday–Friday, Day Shift Shift Times: 7:00am–3:00pm (8s) or 7:00am–5:00pm (10s) Hours per Week: 40 Shifts per Week: 4 Shift Duration: 10-hour days (8- and 10-hour shifts required) Call: No in-house or pager call required Overtime: Not expected, but may be offered EMR/Charting: Epic Privileging Timeframe: ~120 days Practice Model: Anesthesiologists do their own cases; MDs are not supervising CRNAs Case Mix: General, Cardiac, Orthopedics, OB, Pediatrics Cross-Credentialing/Float: Must be willing to cross-credential and float to affiliated facilities in the Wilmington area as needed. Job Requirements (Physician – Anesthesiology) Education: M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school Training: Completion of an approved Anesthesiology residency Board Certification or fellowship required: Yes Licensure: Active physician license (candidates needing to obtain a state license are not accepted) Credentialing: Ability to complete privileging and cross-credential at multiple affiliated facilities Clinical Skills: Strong perioperative judgment, patient communication, and timely documentation in Epic EMR Responsibilities (Perioperative Anesthesia Care) Provide comprehensive anesthesia care for surgical and procedural patients across a diverse case mix (general, cardiac, ortho, OB, pediatrics) Perform pre-anesthesia assessments and develop individualized anesthetic plans Obtain and/or verify informed consent; discuss anesthetic options and risks with patients Manage induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia Continuously monitor physiologic status and perform clinical interventions as needed Collaborate with surgeons, nursing, and perioperative teams to support safe, efficient OR operations Document care accurately and promptly in Epic Float between affiliated sites based on daily operational needs and coverage requirements Apply now to be considered for this long-term locum tenens anesthesiologist assignment in Wilmington, NC 28401 .
